Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook has been promising new products for what now seems like forever. The iPhone 6 should make its debut in early October and now reports are surfacing that claim the the Cupertino, California-based tech behemoth will release a new iPad will have a screen measuring 12.9 inches diagonally.
This coincides with Apple increasing the screen size of the iPhone. The company is holding an event on Sept. 9 to debut new bigger-display iPhones, sources said. The iPhones will come in two new models: one with a 4.7-inch screen and another with a 5.5-inch screen.
Sales of iPads have shrunk for two consecutive quarters as consumers gravitate to smartphones with larger screens. Apple’s existing iPad Air and iPad mini are also expected to see updates this fall, giving the devices the Touch ID fingerprint sensor that’s currently exclusive to the iPhone 5s.
Cook teased that the company is planning innovations in hardware, software and services. It sounds like those teasers may become a reality. Apple (APPL) stock closed down fractionally today to $100.89
